To Whom It May Concern,
The Ohio Department of Agriculture is proud to announce a new RFP under the Phosphorus Removal Structures Program, part of Governor DeWine's H2Ohio Initiative. As part of ODA's effort to reduce phosphorus losses from cropland, the program looks to address agricultural sites with higher-than-average risk of P loss due to high soil test phosphorus levels.

CDN Members: Earlier this year the CDN Communication Committee sent out a short survey to collect information about the use of the Conservation Drainage Media Library (https://conservationdrainage.net/medialibrary/). This resource provides images, videos, graphic illustrations, and other media that can be used in education and other non-commercial activities. As we continue to maintain and update this resource, we ask that you take a few minutes to complete this short survey (https://forms.gle/hA7EDZebVjuroUnN8). The survey should take no more than 5 to 10 minutes to complete. For those who have used

Just a reminder to book your hotel rooms by today to receive the group rate at the Illini Union Hotel as our discount rate ends today.
To make a reservation online:
1. Go to https://illiniunionhotel.illinois.edu/ 2. Enter the stay dates and click "Enter it Now" for Promo or Group Code 1. Note the page says: "Those dates are not available". That is because all rooms are in our room block. Once you enter the booking code you will be able to select a room.
The Communication Committee is pleased to announce the new Conservation Drainage Resource Library, available at https://conservationdrainage.net/resource-library/. It provides readily accessible extension publications, educational resources, research reports, and other documents related to agricultural and conservation drainage. The goal of this library is to provide an accessible and comprehensive database of drainage resources to enhance understanding and awareness around conservation drainage in agricultural settings. Thanks to members of NCERA-217 and others whose work is linked from this site, and especially to Ben Reinhart who has done a tremendous job developing the website.
Good news, we are extending the early registration rates through February 24 but there is no need to wait to register! I've attached a more detailed meeting program, and the information can be found in the link above. Please take a look at the field trip details as the University of Illinois and the Illinois Department of Ag have done a fantastic job lining up this year's field trip. Registration is required for the field trip.

CDN members,
On behalf of the Annual Meeting Planning Committee, I would like to thank everyone for their support of the meeting that will be taking place in Columbus, OH April 3 -5. It is looking like this year's meeting will be the largest of the network with 130 that will be joining in person. Registration does close tomorrow. We realize that not everyone will be able to make it in person so there is an online option available, but you need to be registered to receive the link. Please share with your networks.
Dear CDN members, Michigan State has two new faculty positions open. One for water quality modeler and the other for groundwater hydrology. Please disseminate to interested parties.
water quality modeler The proposed faculty hire will conduct research and Extension focused on developing and validating reliable models for nutrient fate and transport in agricultural systems (soil and surface water). The position will also address the impact of management and conservation practices, strategies to increase nutrient retention and uptake for the diversity of commodities produced in Michigan, and help inform policy for nutrient application on farms in Michigan.
Just a friendly reminder to get registered for the upcoming meeting in Columbus, OH on April 3-5. You can get up to date information on the meeting on the CDN website events page<https://conservationdrainage.net/meetings-and-events/2024-conservation-drainage-network/>. We realize we did not allow enough time for everyone to make decisions and prepare paperwork for attending the field trips and are therefore extending the Early Bird deadline.

Jim had a major role in the founding and sustaining of the Agricultural Drainage Management System (ADMS) Task Force (Now the Conservation Drainage Network), beginning in 2002. The Task Force was established to address growing concerns about the impacts of agricultural drainage on nitrogen and other pollutant loads to the Gulf of Mexico. Jim worked effectively to include drainage scientists and
I wanted to follow up on Wayne Skaggs' note about Jim Fouss, to share a few reflections and especially point to some resources that enable us to continue to learn from Jim. Jim was a committed and effective leader of the Agricultural Drainage Management Systems Task Force for many years, continually working to plan our meetings (which at the beginning took place 3 times per year, then twice per year through 2011), bring in new participants, advance research, and drive greater acceptance of the practices in conservation program funding. On a personal note, he was instrumental in getting me involved
