Rick,

Off the top of my head---and I can look up specific pages later---Burke talks 
about the cathartic value of invective in the Coriolanus essay (title: 
something about the joys of "faction"---and I think the invective part is in a 
footnote) and also, I do believe, somewhere in PLF.

Burke treats such invective as an attenuated form of victimage.

I'll try to get back to you later on that matter.
