The Single Cell Facility (SCF) is a newly established central scientific core facility within the ETH Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE), located in Basel. The SCF serves the department by providing technology and support in flow cytometry, automated microscopy and laboratory automation. Currently, our flow cytometry equipment consists of a MoFlo XDP, a customized BD Influx, a FACSAria III, an LSRFortessa and an IntelliCyt HTS system.
The SCF will be staffed with five people, two of whom are dedicated to flow cytometry, two to microscopy, and one to image analysis and data management. We are looking for an experienced individual interested in a diverse and innovative work environment to strengthen the SCF as a:

Flow Cytometry Operator/Engineer

The successful candidate will hold a degree from a technical college or a university with a strong background in flow cytometry. Requirements are extensive technical experience with state-of-the-art flow cytometry equipment, knowledge of quantitative cell analysis and high speed cell sorting. The candidate should have a strong knowledge of optical principles and hands-on skills in hardware integration and tuning. A working knowledge of biology is beneficial.

Responsibilities will include flow cytometry equipment operation, quality control and maintenance. The candidate will develop and implement customized configurations in the areas of fluidics and excitation/emission optics. Training and support of users are an essential part of this profile.

This position demands very good communication skills (in English) to interact with scientists and the skill to adapt to the service character of the facility to successfully support scientific research and operations at the D-BSSE.
