Dear Colleagues,

I agree with Joanne and I want to acknowledge BD who has been very
cooperative in replacing my 20 mW 488 DPSS Sapphires from Coherent, for
which a long life was not bestowed also.

Dear Colleagues:
Many of you requested a follow up on the outcome of the early departure
of my 50 mw 488nm DPSS laser. We sent the laser back to Melles Griot who
agreed to evaluate the cause of the failure. They determined that it
only had 3600 hours and that it was a failed diode. As a result of such
an early unexpected failure they have agreed to replace the laser at no
charge. The reinstallation and alignment will also be done at no charge.
Since we often use this list to express our displeasure with certain
companies, I think it is only fair to also acknowledge when they do the
right thing as well.
Most responses I received from the list concurred that this was an
anomaly and not an expected experience.
Thanks for this list and for everyone's contributions.
Have a great weekend!
Joanne
