PE and PI together?

Why not use 7-AAD instead? It emits in the farther red region and is
certainly compensatable with PE. Another alternative if you have a red laser
is TOPRO-3 or Sytox Green if your green channel is free. If you are gating
out dead cells and you can clearly distinguish them in fluorescent intensity
from your PE signal you can probably get away with PI as a viability marker
without compensation.

Subject: PE and PI together?

Dear Flowers:

Can PI be compensated for in a PE-labeled sample that does not exhibit
clearly differentiated positive and negative populations, but a broad peak?
Is measuring cell viability in a separate PI-only sample the norm?

Thanks again for your help!
