Debris in sample prep

I've been asked to sort some freshly derived neuronal mouse cells.
The problem is that in the sample prep (where there should be no more than
half million cells) there are so many debris I can't recognize anything like
cells in FSC/SSC.
We don't either have any bright positive marker to stain this cells.
Any suggestion about sample preparation (they are doing enzymatic digestion)
or tricks in detection that can help me?
Thanks in advance,
