dim CD4 population

a colleague biotinylated anti-horse CD4 antibodies and now sees a dim
population with streptavidin-FITC which was not there when she used an
anti-IgG FITC as secondary. (this is in addition to the "standard"
population). is there a technical reason for this, or is this a real,
heretofore unseen population? does it have something to do with a subset
of antibodies that weren't biotinylated as efficiently? oh--these cells
look like they're NK+.
thanks for your replies!
